London, United Kingdom, (6th October 2011) – Legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood is set to unveil his debut collection of fine art from Saturday 22nd October at the Artisan Galleries in London.
Wood, 64, will make public for the first time the five limited edition art pieces, which celebrate the coming together of his two creative worlds: music and art. ‘The Famous Flames Suite’ focuses on the four iconic members of The Rolling Stones: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood himself. ‘The Stones on Stage – Got Me Rockin’’ captures the raw energy of the band that has seen them remain one of the world’s most dynamic rock acts.
Also an artist for over 50 years, Wood has exhibited many works in the past, although this is his first fine art collection. He works in acrylics, then oils, before robustly embellishing the art with oil pastels. After seeing his work, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber commissioned Wood to produce a painting for him, whilst former US President Bill Clinton has previously bought two of his works.
Prints of the paintings will be available to purchase from the galleries, either as individual fine art prints or as a collection.
A spokesperson for Artisan Galleries said: “We are delighted to be able to showcase the debut fine art collection of the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. The two collections, ‘The Famous Flames Suite’ and ‘The Stones on Stage – Got me Rockin’’, demonstrate that Ronnie is a considerable talent, not just with a guitar, but also with a paintbrush and pastels. We are honoured to be able to exhibit the limited edition art of such an iconic figure and are sure they will thrill Rolling Stones and art lovers alike.”
Although most famous for being in the Rolling Stones, Wood has also appeared in other famous bands such as The Jeff Beck Group and The Faces, alongside other legendary musician Rod Stewart. He has also released a number of solo albums and three books.
