Technical Foam Services Wins New MOD Contract

Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (09 June, 2011) – Technical Foam Services, a leading independent engineering-based manufacturer and foam producer, have secured a new MOD contract for the manufacture of CNC-cut items from a completely non-burning Class O acoustic foam.

The three-year contract starts in September 2011, and comes after twelve months of negotiations and regular prototyping, with the components set to be used in a new MOD ground vehicle in off-terrain areas.

The black acoustic foam helps to reduce the sound level and noise reverberation inside the vehicle, and the wide variety of shapes designed by the MOD meant they had to be CNC-cut using Technical Foam Services’ high specification Cute CAD based machine, recognised as being at the forefront of foam cutting technology.

Duncan Geddes, co-MD of Technical Foam Services, commented: “We are extremely pleased to secure this valuable new business, which is a testament to the on-going commitment of our engineering team, and demonstrates that our company’s commitment to investment in the latest equipment continues to reap rewards.”
