Marmalade joins TIGA

London, United Kingdom, (18th October 2011) – TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, today announced Marmalade as their newest member.

Marmalade makes software that lets game developers build and distribute cross-platform applications quickly, easily and without compromise. With ARM as one of its main investors, leading publishers including Electronic Arts, Square Enix and Konami; OEMs and operators such as Samsung, LG, RIM and Korea Telecom; developers like Gameshastra, RoadPilot, Playsoft and NaturalMotion as well as thousands of indies use Marmalade to create the richest cross-platform applications.

The unique technology behind the Marmalade SDK was developed between 2005 and 2008 and tested through the development and deployment of high profile games such as Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Need for Speed and Resident Evil to mobile devices. The SDK was launched as ‘Airplay SDK’ in late 2009, before becoming Marmalade in June 2011.

Marmalade believes that more platforms should mean more possibilities, not more compromises. Their true cross-platform technology provides the best performance and the best portability – and all within the industry’s most open and flexible development environment.

Tamir Strauss, EVP Product & Marketing, Marmalade, explains the reason why they decided to join TIGA.

He said: “The decision to join TIGA was easy for Marmalade. With roots deep within the UK’s gaming industry, and the strong suite of products and services we’ve developed over the past decade to serve this industry, it was a natural step for Marmalade to join forces with the TIGA team. As cross-platform mobile development becomes a reality faced by almost every game developer, we will be working with TIGA and its members to promote excellence and best practice throughout the UK gaming industry and beyond.”

Dr. Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO welcomed the organisation to TIGA: “TIGA is focused on helping developers, developer-publishers and games businesses generally to succeed. So we are working with partners who can provide our members with first class products and services and who can save our members money. I am delighted therefore to welcome Marmalade to TIGA.
