Much Ado in Ellesmere Port

Ellesmere Port, UK (July 2013) – The Boaty Theatre Company returns to Ellesmere Port this summer for a production of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.

Visitors to Ellesmere Port last summer may have caught the Boaty Theatre Company’s production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest at the National Waterways Museum.

This August, the company returns to the venue, this time for a strictly limited two-day run of Much Ado About Nothing1.

Tickets are expected to sell out – so if you wish to attend, make sure you book early, and take a look at the hotels Chester has available if you plan to stay nearby.

Director Laura J Harris says: “Following the huge success of our steampunk adaptation of The Tempest, we were all very keen to find a new project and not allow the positive momentum to drop.”

Once again, the production will put a new spin on Shakespeare’s original script – while the original wording is retained as far as possible, the company have set the story in a post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland.

“Think The Walking Dead and Resident Evil, and you should start to get a feel for the world our characters are living in when the play begins,” Ms Harris adds.

Tickets are £4 for adults and £3 for concessions, and can be booked directly with the Boaty Theatre Company, or from the National Waterways Museum reception.

Only two dates are scheduled for this very limited run, which is expected to sell out well in advance of the opening night on August 21st – followed the following day by the closing performance.

Further events are planned for the venue before 2013 is over, including a Real Ale Festival in October, organised in conjunction with Titanic Brewery.

The themed three-day festival is to feature real ales with canal connections, bringing together waterway-inspired beverages from breweries throughout the UK.
