The Financial Services Authority has recently updated its records on the number of authorised mortgage firms in the UK, and found that these have risen for the first time since the credit crunch, to a total of 5,055 firms.
The number of appointed representatives of authorised firms has also peaked, having been on the gradual decline since 2007, and there has now been the first rise in these numbers in the latest quarter to 2,434 as of September 2012.
Peter Lingley, Simply Academy’s Academic Director, commented: “The mortgage broker industry is showing positive signs of growing, with directly authorised and appointed representative enterprises on the increase, which in turn means more business and job opportunities for people entering the industry in either employed or self-employed roles.
