London, United Kingdom (10th December, 2012) – Track Surveys, a leading UK provider of performance-related tools and services, comments as the CIPD reveals an increase in the number of companies investing in coaching for line managers.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has released figures showing a rise in companies using external coaching for line managers, with 52% now investing in training compared to 49% in 2009. John McGurk, a CIPD adviser in learning and talent development, believes that more organisations are investing in coaching throughout multiple areas of seniority – rather than just at an executive level – to help various managers support other employees, which can help enhance a team’s performance from the top down.
Track Surveys offers a range of online tools and related services designed to enhance employee performance and help companies operate better overall. Their main service is the 360 degree system, which has been delivered to thousands of professionals across the UK, Europe, the USA, Asia and the Middle East. They believe the rise in line management coaching is down to companies wanting to increase the efficiency of their internal operations by ensuring managers who interact with their team every day know how to handle a myriad of situations.
“At Track Surveys, we agree that coaching is a critical skill that every manager needs to be able to use in order to motivate and develop their teams,” a spokesperson for Track Surveys said. “Coaching is not about touchy-feely stuff: it’s about being able to give constructive, honest and specific feedback, setting goals that will motivate and challenge, and frequently discussing results and building the confidence and skills of the team.
“360 degree feedback is a critical part of the coaching process: helping people understand where they are is the first step in them planning where they are going to go; it is also important for regularly assessing manager skills in coaching and helping them to improve, as well as being an excellent tool for measuring the improvement in skills and performance of teams over time.”
