London, United Kingdom (15th May, 2012) – M Winkwoth plc, the largest single estate agency brand in London, has done their bit for their local community by being the main sponsor for the BCA duck race.
This is the second year running the London property agents have sponsored the event, run by the Barnes Community Association. Ducks were available from local shops, with all the proceeds going to local charities and schools in Barnes. The race took place on Saturday 7th April at 12pm by the bridge over Beverly Brook on Barnes Green and there were a number of prizes for all those who took part.
Donovan Kelly, franchisee of Winkworth, said: “The Barnes Duck Race is a great event, as it brings the Barnes community together from all ages and walks of life to raise money for charity in a fun way for those in need in Barnes. Using a setting of natural beauty, Berverly Brook was an ideal place to host the event, running through the geographical heart of Barnes. Winkworth were also incredibly generous in sponsoring the event for the second year running.
“As it was Easter, we had an actor who was dressed up as an ‘Easter Chicken’, entertaining the children and adults alike. Naturally the prizes were chocolate Easter eggs for the winners, plus a huge basket of smaller chocolate eggs for all the children who took part, who could also take all the surplus ducks with them. Although we ordered extra plastic ducks this year, we still ran out and need to order more next year. This event really highlighted the beauty of Barnes as a ‘country village in London’ and great supportive people in such a caring community.”
