Digital Direct Security Comments on Rising Hard Drive Prices

Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, (6th December 2011) – Digital Direct Security, a leading CCTV systems provider for domestic, office-based, warehouse and multi-site operations, have told their customers not to worry about the rising cost of hard disk drives due to floods in Thailand.

Over 300 people have died and nearly 9 million in total have been affected by the flooding, which has inundated 27 of the country’s 77 provinces. Industrial areas, where many of the world’s hard drives are produced, have been seriously affected. The cost of a 2.5in 500GB hard drive has risen from around £30 to approximately £38, and could even rise to around £45 in the near future, according to industry sources.

However, Digital Direct Security, many of whose CCTV products contain hard drives, has moved to reassure their customers, claiming they don’t believe the price rises to be a long-term problem. They have recognised that there is an issue with rising hard drive prices and have sympathised with those who will have to pay more.

A spokesperson for Digital Direct Security said: “This will hopefully only be a temporary price increase and the situation cannot be helped. People will continue to pay for quality hard drives despite the cost, though it will, of course, have an impact on people’s and companies’ budgets. As ever, we will strive to provide high quality products at the best possible prices to our customers.”
