Cheshire Bonded Stone Expands its Tarmac Manchester Range

England – 24/10/2011After years of steady fall in demand tarmac Manchester driveways and paths are again growing in popularity.

A couple of decades ago if you were going to have a drive laid it would have been either cement or tarmac. Cement for a commercial property, and tarmac for residential properties. Cheshire Bonded Stone laid much of the tarmac Manchester homeowners had put down as drives. Over the years demand switched from tarmac, to gravel, then to blocks and now to resin bonded stone. However, now tarmac is back as the material of choice for many homeowners.

Why Tarmac Is Back?

Tarmac in Manchester is back with a vengeance and there are many reasons for this. The first is the cost of tarmac, which is still lower than many other materials. In the current economic climate cost is important. The other reason is the low maintenance involved once a tarmac drive is laid. There is no raking of gravel or spraying weed killer needed, which both gravel and block drives need every 6 months or so. A well laid tarmac path or drive will not crack or sink, and is resistant to mold. There is no maintenance involved, except an occasional sweeping. If moss is a problem then a quick spray with a high pressured hose once a year over the area affected is usually all that is needed.

Modern tarmac mixes and laying techniques give a far smoother surface than was previously possible with tarmac. Gone are the days when a tarmac drive looked like a small piece of road had been laid in front of a home. Tarmac can be smooth rolled to an almost glossy finish and can be edged with a wide array of kerbing. It is even possible to have colored tarmac laid.

Much of the tarmac Manchester homeowners have laid nowadays goes over the top of existing drives. Cheshire Bonded Stone provides a new wearing course for many customers, whose old drive is beginning to crack or sink. They overlay existing cement, tarmac or block drives and paths with a new layer of fresh tarmac for many customers.
