Derbyshire, United Kingdom (12th September, 2011) – Denby, leading-name suppliers of tableware and cookware, announce that HRH The Princess Royal is visiting Denby Pottery on Monday, 12 September 2011 to commemorate 200 years of pottery production at the original Denby site.
HRH The Princess Royal will first see displays of Denby in the Visitor Centre ‘Home Store’ before taking a tour of Derbyshire’s largest pottery to view production processes.
Iain Duncan, Operations Director, will show HRH The Princess Royal around the factory and will highlight the successful integration of new technology with traditional hand skills such as the decoration on the new ‘Halo’ tableware – the former giving wider design and efficiency opportunities and the latter preserving the technique which epitomises the Denby style.
HRH The Princess Royal will also meet some of the many long serving employees of the pottery during her tour which will conclude in the Design Studio. Here Denby’s commitment to the export market will be emphasised by explaining the development of special pieces for individual countries.
Employees will gather to witness the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the visit by HRH The Princess Royal which marks the concluding part of Denby’s bicentenary celebrations. HRH The Princess Royal will then visit three other well established Derbyshire firms – Deb Ltd, Thorntons & David Nieper.
Along with the Vice Lord-Lieutenant, High Sheriff and Denby Free School, well-wishers are welcome to the Denby Visitor Centre to see HRH The Princess Royal arrive after 12.15 pm.
