The clamour for the second generation of Apple’s iPad was so great that, after its launch at 5pm on Friday 11th March, every available unit in the US had been sold before close of business on Sunday March 13th.
Such has been the demand for the iPad 2 amongst schools and colleges that experts are predicting an increase in use and importance of Apple products in education. It is believed that iPads will eventually replace textbooks as students’ primary reading source as they are paper-light, reusable and allow for a far greater level of interaction. The iPad 2 also costs less than the cheapest Mac laptop, despite sharing many of the lager machine’s features and capabilities.
