Chips.co.uk reacts to news of potential Ladbrokes purchase of Betdaq

Cheshire, United Kingdom (8th January 2012). Operators of free betting comparison website Chips.co.uk have reacted positively to the news of a possible purchase of Betdaq by Ladbrokes.

On the 7th January, it was reported in The Guardian that a deal to purchase the Dermot Desmond owned Global Betting Exchange by Ladbrokes for £30million was in place. The bookmaker had previously confirmed that discussions “regarding a potential future acquisition” had taken place, and this report suggests that a deal could be edging closer.

Irish based Betdaq is the world’s second largest betting exchange operator behind Betfair. Unlike bookmakers, Betdaq allow punters to place a bet between other gamblers using the service, whilst the operator takes commission from each wager. The appeal of such a service is due to punters being able to ‘lay’ bets as well as place them; the process of placing money on a certain outcome not to happen. This deal is hoped will be an exciting one for online betting enthusiasts, as they will be able to access both the traditional bookmaker facilities and betting exchanges all in one place.

Both Ladbrokes and Betdaq are featured on betting comparison website Chips.co.uk. It works as an affiliate to these sites and others to compile all of the latest sign up offers and welcome bonuses for punters to choose from. This helps new customers to make an informed decision before committing to a betting provider.

Matt Bullas, the entrepreneur behind Chips.co.uk, believes that this potential takeover of Betdaq by Ladbrokes could spell great news for punters.

“As someone who myself enjoys a flutter from time to time, I appreciate the appeal of both a fixed bookmaker odds service and an exchange service. It is often annoying to have to create a number of accounts to use both of these services, and that is why this proposed acquisition by Ladbrokes is so exciting,” said Bullas. “Chips.co.uk constantly monitors the value of sign up offers and incentives, and this additional service would certainly help add to the appeal of signing up to Ladbrokes.”
