Chichester, United Kingdom (20th August, 2013) – ANS Group Europe, leading designers of indoor and outdoor living walls, will install two green walls at a new Marks & Spencer store in Yorkshire.
The 120,000 sq. ft. store is planned to form part of a Monks Cross scheme, which will include retail development as well as a new stadium for York City FC and York City Knights; the new store would replace the two M&S outlets currently trading at Monks Cross. ANS Group Europe was approached by the project’s architect and M&S to create the walls—this will be their fifth installation for the company.
The project is for two walls, measuring 161m2 in total, which will be installed later this year when construction of the store is well underway. The walls feature 15,456 native plants, and were designed to achieve an ‘excellent’ rating by BREEAM—the world’s biggest environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings around the world. As further proof of the company’s dedication to more eco-friendly operations, waste water from the store’s refrigeration units will be used to water the walls.
