People Still Crave Designer Glasses

England 08/09/2012- Even in the current economic environment sales of designer glasses are still on the up

In tough economic times, you would expect sales of designer glasses to fall away almost entirely. However, this has yet to prove to be the case. It seems that when it comes to quality there is always a ready market. People want to look good and are prepared to invest in themselves to do so.

However, that does not mean that the average man in the street is looking to buy designer glasses. A large proportion of the population cannot bridge the gap between what they earn and the cost of most designer glasses.

However, in reality this has always been the case. Only a relatively small proportion of the population has ever been able to afford to buy these top end glasses. Those sections of the population who can afford to buy them have been impacted far less by the recession. They still have the necessary cash available to buy. In fact, many are spending a bigger proportion of their income than they once did. A lack of sound investment opportunities and low interest rates has caused a significant proportion of them to spend rather than save. It is high end products they are spending money on.

Designer glasses actually represent good value for money

When you consider that a pair of designer glasses can be potentially worn for many years they actually represent good value for money anyway. The best designer frames such as Fred, Lindberg and Dita are made from extremely hardwearing materials like titanium. They are designed to last. The designers who work for these companies realise that many people will want to wear them for years to come. As a result, they include at least some frames in their collection that have a timeless quality to them. Rather than coming up with jazzy, radical designs they come up with frames that have a classical timeless quality meaning they can be worn for years without looking dated. Viewpoint have found demand for designer glasses to be just as strong as it was prior to the recession and are actually expanding their range as a result.
