The Foam Tube machine has the capability of producing bored foam tubes from polyurethane foam, up to a length of one metre and outer diameter of 100mm. Foam rollers of this size have a variety of uses, ranging from water filters, air filters, paint application and concrete smoothing.
This is by far the longest foam roller machining process available in the UK, so it gives Technical Foam Services the unique ability to explore new business opportunities in the roller market. Furthermore, the engineering department of Technical Foam Services is already exploring the possibility of further developing the machine so it can bore closed cell polyethylene foams, as well as open cell polyurethane foams.
The Joint Managing Director of Technical Foam Services, Duncan Geddes, explained the reasoning behind why the business has invested in building this new machine.
He commented: “We are seeing an increasing number of enquiries for foam rollers, with an ever widening range of sizes. As we are the only UK foam convertor with a roller producing facility, it now makes sense for us to expand our range of foam roller machines to help meet our customers’ expectations. In the last three months alone, we have received enquiries for foam rollers from Dubai, Sweden and Brazil, so it is clear to our management team that this part of our business can expect to be busy in the future.”
