The new listing service is free for retailers and shoppers and allows retailers to highlight their stores to shoppers with their own free Shop Local web page.
Moray Newberry, owner of Encounter Magazine, is already reporting fast take-up for the new directory service. “Retailers are loving it”, he says. “They can give details of their shop and location and shout about their services – and it’s all totally free. And the best bit for them is that we do all the site updates as well”
The online directory is a development of the magazine’s highly successful Shop Local campaign which promotes the travel cost and convenience benefits of local shopping.
