Coventry, United Kingdom (11 March 2011) – Buck & Hickman, a leading UK distributor of tools, maintenance and health & safety products, reveal that their parent company, The BSS Group plc, has been acquired by Travis Perkins plc.
Born out of the merger in 1988 of Travis & Arnold and Sandell Perkins, Travis Perkins can trace its history back over 200 years and is a leading company in the builders’ merchant and home improvement markets, and main supplier to the building and construction sector.
The BSS Group plc is a market leading distributor to specialist trades. It has three Divisions: Domestic, Industrial and Specialist. The BSS Group turns over in excess of £1.3billion, operates through 400 trading branches, and employs almost 5,000 people. It is headquartered in Leicester and is listed on the UK Stock Exchange.
The merger of Travis Perkins and the BSS Group creates a major new British plc, and the company will now operate 19 separate businesses from over 1,700 branch locations across the UK.
