Barber Design Comments on the Growing Popularity of Pop Up Shops

London, United Kingdom, (7th December, 2011) – Barber Design, a leading contemporary interior design agency, comments on the prevalence of pop-up shops on Britain’s high street following their recent work on development projects for pop up stores in new ‘pop up mall’ Boxpark.

Boxpark is a retail solution developed by Roger Wade, the creator of Boxfresh and Brands Incorporated, in partnership with Hammerson and Ballymore, a real estate development organisation. Boxpark opened on Saturday 3rd December in Shoreditch, London, and currently houses over sixty brands in the fashion, arts and lifestyle industries.

Barber Design has recently engaged in projects to develop ‘pop up’ retail environments in the Boxpark mall for fashion brand Diesel’s 55DSL range of clothing. Diesel have taken one of the largest units in Boxpark and joined 3 containers together to make one large space linked by cut-outs and incorporating technology and art installations to create a unique retail experience for customers. The leading UK design agency has noticed that an increasing amount of businesses are investing in pop up shops as a way to promote experimental ideas and test them on consumers before launching a more concrete advertising campaign or store, and are continually carrying out related work in department stores and on the high street in various locations.

“In light of the high street’s recent plummeting popularity with consumers, pop up stores are filling a considerable gap in the market,” commented a spokesperson for Barber Design. “They create a sense of vibrancy and buzz that conventional bricks and mortar stores find hard to rival, as their versatility and flexibility refreshes and breathes life onto the high street.

“We are delighted to be playing a role in this market by working on the 55 DSL Boxpark project and hope to contribute further to the success of pop-up shops in the future.”
