England – 05/09/2011 – British housebuilders figures show new home developments save owners on average £30,000
Leading British housing company, Redrow Homes, has released figures demonstrating the financial benefits, which can be achieved when buyers choose new home developments over existing properties. The figures show that on the energy efficiency side alone, older properties waste around £556 every year in energy bills compared to the equivalent size house on one of Redrows new home developments. Added to this is the average cost of redecoration, repairs and maintenance of older properties, which are not needed in new homes, making the final total a substantial £30,000.
Typical existing properties will require an investment of around £10,000 to bring them up to a similar standard as a new home, and some of the features of new home developments will never be achieved in existing housing.
